What are you doing with all your time each day?
Do you ever stop to think about the fact that time never stops?….
Even if we physically slow down and consciously choose to intentionally relax….it DOESN’T stop.
Not for a moment.
Time continues to tick…
This reality can often cause me great anxiety. At times, I feel like months are flying past me at rocket speed.
I know I have to create much needed space in my schedule to rest, relax, and just breathe.
Shouldn’t practicing that intention bring me to a place of peace?
Why do I continue to still struggle with feeling like I need to be DOING something productive so I’m not WASTING time relaxing?
Is relaxing really wasting time? I would say not if it is contributing to my sanity!!
We all need to take time to breathe without feeling guilty for it, right?
It’s a problem many of us struggle with. We feel the need to constantly be productive in some way.
We all have a plethora of items we need to accomplish on an ongoing basis to make life work for us and those around us.
This can sometimes effect us when we have potential free time, as we sabotage it by worrying about the dirty dishes, checking our email, picking up toys, and thinking about how we need to figure out what to make for dinner.
While it would be nice if there were a simple button to push that would let people ditch the guilt, human nature does not work that way.
My Aha Moment…
I’m thankful for a dear friend of mine who sensed my struggle the other day and shared a nugget with me that was a huge “aha moment”.
She reminded me how I was the queen of list making and how much energy I get from checking things off my lists.
She suggested I actually create a space on my daily to do list, even if it was only 15 minutes, to do NOTHING; to just BE.
Hence, if it’s on my list, I can proudly check it off when I’m done.
Mind over matter? Maybe.
I liked the idea. It’s been working.
You should try it,
and then don’t forget to stop back by and let me know how it worked for you!
Live light,
Lucia
